Intercepted calls incriminate police officer: “If I spoke, half of Palermo’s mobile squad would be arrested.”

Fabrizio Spedale, a police officer in Palermo, has been arrested for corruption, embezzlement, and forgery. He allegedly leaked confidential information about ongoing investigations to a drug dealer named Ignazio Carollo and also sold confiscated hashish on the black market. The profits from these illegal sales were shared with other corrupt officers. Carollo unknowingly discussed his past dealings with Spedale and complained about his recent “inefficiency” to his mother while being wiretapped. The intercepted conversations revealed that Spedale had been receiving monetary bribes, and the amounts mentioned corresponded to the quantity of drugs sold.
