Inauguration of Easter Nativity Scene in Balestrate, Sicilian heroes of our time: from Falcone and Borsellino to Biagio Conte

The Nativity scene features artworks inspired by Neapolitan traditions as well as modern-day heroes and personalities. Figures include judges Falcone and Borsellino, Father Pino Puglisi, Franca Viola, and other renowned individuals like Andrea Camilleri, Biagio Conte, and Domenico Intravaia. The project was made possible with the support of Lemon Sistemi and the venue owner, along with volunteers like Fiorella Palmeri and Filippa Tarantino who showcased their artistic talents. The aim is to keep the exhibition accessible even during the summer tourist season. The president of Terre delle Balestrate community cooperative, Riccardo Vescovo, emphasized the project’s success in involving all aspects of the community to create a cultural attraction beyond the beach season.

The Nativity scene includes historical and contemporary figures, as well as local personalities like past parish priests in Balestrate and Rector Filippo Evola.
