The 118 emergency services rescued a 28-year-old woman from Castellammare del Golfo, who was injured on the island of Levanzo. The helicopter pilot managed to land on a small beach in the Calaminnola area, avoiding the need to move the woman to a distant landing zone. This allowed her to receive medical attention and be taken to the emergency room at Palermo’s Civic Hospital. This reduced the need for unnecessary transportation. The operation was coordinated by the Palermo operational center, led by Marco Palmeri and overseen by Fabio Genco, the director of the 118 services in the Palermo and Trapani areas.
