The mayor of Gela, Lucio Greco, has decided to revoke his resignation that he had presented on June 12, surprising many. He has taken 15 out of the 20 days given to withdraw his resignation and has decided to stay in office. This decision halts the possibility of an imposed commission and keeps the current administration in place. Greco’s original resignation came amidst a financial crisis in the municipality, with debts of nearly one hundred million euros. Many saw his resignation as a responsible act, while others believed it was a strategic move to regain lost majority support.
