Gambian dies at Palermo Hospital after being stabbed
A 24-year-old Gambian man, Kitim Ceesay, recently presented himself to the emergency room of the Civico hospital in Palermo with a stab wound to the chest. After a period of hospitalization at the Policlinico, where he was transferred, he died.
The prosecutor’s office has opened an investigation for murder, ordering the seizure of medical records and the body, which has been transferred to the Institute of Legal Medicine for autopsy. The young man arrived in Palermo from Africa several years ago and lived with a woman with whom he had a child. The couple was expecting a second child.
Kitim Ceesay was officially homeless. According to reports, the doctors had reported the incident to the police, as per protocol, but the Gambian man did not cooperate with the investigators.
