Forum Palermo relies on artificial intelligence to reduce consumption

Explain the article briefly:

Multi Italy, the company that manages Forum Palermo, has entrusted Evogy – B Corp and Benefit Company with the smart and digital management of the shopping center’s energy consumption. This project represents the first practical case study and application of the solutions proposed within a shopping center, by Evogy, an Italian tech company specializing in digital systems for optimizing and improving the energy efficiency of buildings.

Forum Palermo, with 8 million visitors per year, a surface area of over 49,000 sqm and 135 stores, has been aiming to reduce consumption, energy management costs, and emissions in line with European regulations. The solution proposed by Evogy for Forum Palermo is centered around Simon, the Building Energy Management System (BEMS) in the cloud based on IoT and AI technology, which allows for dynamic and predictive control of all HVAC systems in the building. Evogy will provide Multi with key performance indicators (KPIs) to include in its ESG report and account for all energy efficiency activities the company is investing in.

The project is part of the sustainability journey started by Multi at Forum Palermo in 2015, which resulted in a 45% overall reduction in consumption by the end of 2023. The collaboration with Evogy aims to achieve a further 15% reduction in electricity consumption within the first 12 months, corresponding to an annual reduction of emissions by 35 tons of CO2 equivalent.

“We are pleased to be part of a sustainability journey already initiated by Multi and to bring our systems and expertise into this space,” says Amos Ronzino, Evogy’s commercial and partnership manager.

In conclusion, this partnership between Multi and Evogy aims to further improve the energy efficiency of Forum Palermo through the use of new technologies such as artificial intelligence, demonstrating the effectiveness of digital solutions in achieving real and measurable green transitions.
