Fontana dell’Acquasanta clan members return to prison: a setback for their organization
The brothers Gaetano and Giovanni Fontana, prominent members of the Acquasanta mafia clan, were arrested yesterday in Milan by the Finance Guard at the request of Deputy Prosecutor General Maria Teresa Maligno. The operation follows the sentencing issued on Monday night by the fourth section of the Court of Appeal, chaired by Vittorio Anania, which overturned the acquittal pronounced on October 21, 2022 with the abbreviated trial by Judge Simone Alecci. In the second-degree trial, the two brothers were convicted of a series of crimes related to the control of economic and criminal activities, in particular extortions and infiltrations in the shipyard. Gaetano Fontana, considered the new head of the Acquasanta and Arenella clan, after the death of his father Stefano, received a sentence of eleven years imprisonment, while his brother Giovanni was sentenced to ten years.
