Firecracker explodes during procession in Petralia Sottana, one injured

An employee, 51 years old, from Geraci Siculo was injured by a firecracker during a religious procession in Petralia Sottana, in the province of Palermo. The man was supposed to set off the fireworks when he was hit by one of the rockets that were supposed to be launched from the mortar. He was first taken to the Madonna dell’Alto hospital in Petralia Sottana and from there to the Villa Sofia hospital by the 118 health workers. The prognosis is 30 days. The carabinieri are conducting investigations, coordinated by the Termini Imerese prosecutor’s office. It is being verified whether the accident was caused by negligence of the worker or by the company’s faults in the province of Messina.
