Fire at the hygiene institute of Policlinico in Palermo, premises seized

Fire broke out overnight on Thursday and Friday (24th and 25th of October 2024) at the Giuseppe D’Alessandro Institute of Hygiene at the Policlinico, in Piazza Durante in Palermo. The flames engulfed the wing of the first floor where the headquarters of the chemical risk quality control center is located.

The area has been sealed off by the fire brigade to determine the causes as ordered by the duty prosecutor. There were no hospitalized patients in the four-story building.
