The wife had left him due to the continued aggressions, but he continued to harass her, even going as far as threatening to kill her and cut her into pieces, telling her “if you’re not mine, you won’t be anyone else’s.” For this reason, the police, at the request of the Public Prosecutor’s Office, arrested a 50-year-old man in Catania, against whom officers executed a pre-trial detention order issued by the judge for family abuse and stalking. The man was imprisoned in Piazza Lanza prison.

The fifty-year-old, father of three young children, possessive towards his wife, allegedly insulted her and physically assaulted her with kicks and punches, even in front of their children, at times destroying household items.

The aggressions did not stop even during the period when the woman was pregnant with their last child, forcing her to live in an atmosphere of total domination, physical and psychological violence culminating in the decision to leave her husband. Despite the end of the relationship, the man allegedly continued to constantly contact his ex-wife with hundreds of messages, phone calls, and video calls to control her because he demanded that she not see other people.
