Easter and Easter Monday controls in Palermo and province, 21 fines issued

During Easter and Easter Monday, in Palermo and its province, 244 people were identified during the checks arranged on the holidays, with 172 vehicles inspected and 21 violations of the Highway Code reported. It was a busy Easter weekend for the police forces in the province of Palermo, who intensified territorial control services in anticipation of a massive influx of tourists on the roads and highways of the capital. State Police, Carabinieri, Guardia di Finanza, Palermo Municipal Police, and the Forestry Corps all contributed to monitoring access points, major transit routes, parks, gardens, and gathering places, as well as tourist routes such as the Arab-Norman itinerary. Surveillance and prevention of crimes and improper behavior were also ensured through the use of a police horse squad from the General Prevention and Public Assistance Office, especially at the Favorita, to enforce the ban on fires established by a municipal ordinance. Monitoring also included helicopter presence from the IV Flying Unit of the State Police and the Carabinieri Helicopter Unit in Palermo-Boccadifalco flying over high-risk areas throughout the day. A team of State Police divers was also deployed off the coast of Mondello.
