Donna in wheelchair falls into a hole in Palermo: rushed to ER with severe facial injuries

The wheelchair wheel falls into a hole and a 65-year-old disabled woman, Giuseppa Lauricella, is thrown to the ground: she has a broken face and facial trauma. The incident happened in Largo Trinacria in Palermo, as the caregiver pushing the woman in the wheelchair did not see the deep hole. Passersby called for help and the ambulance arrived, transporting the injured woman to the emergency room at Villa Sofia with a yellow code. Doctors will keep her under observation to determine if the trauma has also caused brain damage or just injuries to the face and head. Municipal police officers will have to submit a report on what happened to start the compensation process, yet another one for the many potholes on sidewalks and streets in the city.
