Doctor and nurse arrested for smuggling drugs and cellphones into prison in Barcellona Pozzo di Gotto

The gates of the prison are opening for Dr. Antonella Campagna, 41 years old from Messina, and nurse Maria Rosa Genovese, 63 years old from Barcellona, both accused of conspiring together to illegally introduce three hashish blocks, various types of mobile phones, chargers, power banks, phone cables, and numerous phone SIMs into the Barcellona prison. The President of the Barcellona Court, Giovanni De Marco, acting as the examining magistrate, not only validated the arrests of the two women but also granted the public prosecutor Emanuela Scali’s request and issued the two women an order of pre-trial detention. The arrested individuals have been placed in custody in prison and will be kept at the disposal of the judicial authority with the recommendation for maximum vigilance. The prison administration is encouraged to find a different detention facility other than the Barcellona Pozzo di Gotto prison.
