Clelia La Terra, co-owner of the Baretto di Mondello, has passed away at the age of 67. Alongside her husband, Vincenzo Schillaci, she ran the Baretto, a renowned gelato and granita shop in Valdesi that had been open since 1957. The shop faced a legal dispute with the Italo-Belga company and was eventually closed in 2021. However, it later reopened in a new location on via Teti in Mondello. Clelia was a beloved figure at the Baretto, always present at the cash register. Her death has been mourned by many on social media, who remember her as a symbol of summer and a tradition for generations of Palermitans. Her passing is a loss for the community, and she will be greatly missed.
