Cyclist hit on State Road 284 in Catania: serious condition
A cyclist was seriously injured this morning after being hit by a car on state road 284, in the Difesa Luna district, near the stadium. According to preliminary reports, the man on the bike, a forty-seven-year-old from Maletto, was hit head-on by a car, a Citroen C3, driven by a man from Adrano. The driver had just entered the highway towards Catania and reportedly did not see the cyclist, hitting him.
The athlete fell to the ground and lost consciousness. Emergency services were immediately alerted, and an ambulance from the 118 service arrived on the scene. Medical personnel provided initial care and contacted the helicopter rescue team, which transported the injured man in critical condition to Cannizzaro Hospital in Catania.
The injured man’s condition is serious. Police and carabinieri patrols arrived at the scene of the accident. Officers conducted investigations to determine the exact dynamics of the incident and manage the traffic.
