Clash in Trapani prison leaves two officers hospitalized

Briefly explain the following article

At the Pietro Cerullì prison in Trapani, some inmates triggered a brawl and two prison police officers had to resort to the care of emergency room doctors. This is reported by the secretary of the Uilpa Sicilia, Gioacchino Veneziano.

“Following the brawl, further disorder occurred – Veneziano said – and colleagues, even in clear numerical difficulty, managed to activate the alarm, thus allowing the arrival of other colleagues led by the department commander, restoring security”.

Veneziano adds: “Last week we sent a note to Undersecretary Andrea Delmastro, department head Giovanni Russo, personnel director Massimo Parisi, and regional superintendent Maurizio Veneziano, denouncing the shortage of over 80 prison police units, the lack of a titular director, and the overcrowding of the facility.”
