Catania: Sewer collector works may cause disruptions on the ring road
On request from the Fce Circumetnea Metropolitana, starting from tomorrow, Wednesday, June 12, part of the ring road in Catania will be closed to traffic to allow urgent work on the sewer collector, near the Monte Po metro station, in preparation for the upcoming opening of the Fontana and Monte Po metro stations. This information was provided by the Municipality.
The schedule for traffic measures is as follows: from 9 am on Wednesday, June 12, the northbound lane of Via Felice Fontana will be closed from the Monte Po roundabout towards Misterbianco for the execution of the works up to the center of the median of the ring road; an alternative route will be available through the complanar road of Via Mezzocampo which will bypass the closed section of the ring road; by 6 pm on Friday, June 14, the entire northbound lane of the ring road towards Misterbianco will be reopened to traffic; no works will be carried out on Saturday, June 15 and Sunday, June 16; starting from 7 am on Monday, June 17, work will begin on the southbound lane of Via Felice Fontana, with one alternating lane towards Catania from Misterbianco, at the Monte Po roundabout, with traffic flow ensured on one lane; on Friday, June 21, starting from 6 pm, the complete reopening of the ring road is expected.
The Municipal Police will be present to regulate traffic flows and alleviate circulation issues, promoting alternative routes (San Giorgio, Tangenziale, exit from the service axis, and equipped axis).
