Catania pusher arrested after delivering cocaine door-to-door
The Carabinieri investigative unit in Catania successfully carried out another blow against the drug trafficking phenomenon, this time in the busy neighborhood of Picanello, arresting a 54-year-old Catania man for drug possession with intent to distribute.
In particular, during a delicate investigative activity, the Carabinieri discovered that the drug dealer had set up a profitable drug trade using the “door to door delivery” technique. The man was contacted by customers, packaged the drugs stored in his apartment in the heart of the Picanello neighborhood, used as a drug deposit, and then set off in his white Fiat Panda to deliver the product to their homes, quickly disappearing in the alleyways of the neighborhood.
After clarifying the dealer’s modus operandi and obtaining all the necessary information to prepare a targeted operation, the Carabinieri decided to start a series of discreet surveillance activities.
The investigative teams were then positioned under the man’s apartment and along the streets he usually traveled, waiting for the most opportune and effective moment to block him, preventing any possible escape.
The Carabinieri, after a few hours, saw the 54-year-old man coming out of his building and approaching his Fiat Panda used for deliveries. The investigators, convinced he was going to make a delivery, decided to intervene. The dealer was surrounded and searched, leading to the discovery of cocaine and marijuana in his pockets. Further searches in his apartment revealed a large quantity of drugs and a precision digital scale.
The drug dealer was secured and the Carabinieri continued their investigation into the case.
