Catania-Padova match to be played behind closed doors, 1,500 under 14 kids in the stands

Doors closed at the Angelo Massimino stadium in Catania on April 2 for the return leg of the Serie C Coppa Italia final against Padua, but the B stand will be open to 1,500 boys under 14 from the youth sector of the Sicilian club and affiliated schools. This is the decision of the police, who have accepted a joint request from Catania football club and Lega Pro.

The match will be played behind closed doors after the disturbances caused by red and blue ultras in Padua in the first leg won 2-1 by the Venetians. “The sports judge – reads a statement on the club’s social channels – has granted the necessary authorization for the initiative, strongly desired by Catania and Lega Pro, to spread a message focused on positive chanting. The refereeing team and the twenty-two players on the field will enter the field with 25 children: on the shirts of the latter, the most important words related to the values of sport.”
