Car-Scooter Accident in Pozzallo: Naval Officer Dies After 12 Days of Agony

Twelve days ago, Luca Barone, an Italian naval officer, was airlifted to the trauma center at Cannizzaro Hospital in Catania in critical condition. Despite efforts by surgeons to save his life, Barone did not survive. He had been involved in a collision between his motorcycle and a Toyota Yaris on June 17. The accident occurred on the Pozzallo-Santa Maria del Focallo road, near the Second Slide beach. The Yaris was driven by a woman who did not suffer serious injuries. Emergency services were called to the scene, but due to the severity of Barone’s condition, they opted to transport him by air to a well-equipped hospital. Barone, who was born and lived in Pozzallo, leaves behind a wife and two daughters.
