Car crashes in Palermo, young couple drives off cliff at Monte Pellegrino
Two young people in a car went off the road and ended up in a ditch on Via Bonanno, in Montepellegrino. An 18-year-old boy and his 16-year-old girlfriend were injured while traveling in a white Grande Punto. They were rescued by the firefighters and handed over to the 118 emergency medical service.
The young couple, after reaching the highest part of the mountain, were returning home. The young driver, taking one of the last curves, lost control of the vehicle. The car went off the road, continued along the slope, and collided with a guardrail that likely prevented a worse outcome.
Teams from the provincial fire brigade, along with the police, rescued the two lovers who were then taken to Villa Sofia for examinations. Fortunately, neither of them suffered serious consequences. The officers from the Accident Section were on site to conduct investigations and clarify the causes of the accident.
Three teams of firefighters intervened on the scene, including the Saf unit (Speleo alpine-riverine), who carried out the rescue of the two young people who were then entrusted to the care of the 118 personnel present on site. The operations concluded around 2:30 a.m.
