Candlelight vigil for Giulia from Bellini square to Palazzo Steri: ‘One lives of love, not dies’
Marcella Cannariato, vice president of the Tommaso Dragotto Foundation and representative of the Belisario Foundation for all of Sicily, led a silent torchlight procession through the historic center of the city. The march was attended by around 100 people and was organized by the foundation to raise awareness about violence against women. Cannariato emphasized the need for intervention by the state, highlighting the importance of education and awareness in promoting civil and democratic coexistence. The city’s response to recent cases of femicide was commended, and events dedicated to the fight against violence on women are planned, including debates, a concert, and a parade. Cannariato also stressed the need for economic empowerment and opportunities for women, particularly in the southern regions.
