Campobello di Mazara, eviction at the migrant camp: only one was not legally documented

The operation to evacuate the migrant camp set up in the former Fontane d’oro oil mill in Campobello di Mazara is currently underway. Within the housing units donated by UNHCR to the municipality, 13 foreigners and one Italian girl have been identified. Until a few weeks ago, they were living in the illegal camp at the former Calcestruzzi Selinunte cement plant. The former oil mill is currently occupied by the police, finance guard, carabinieri, municipal police, and the social worker Giovannella Falco. Out of the 13 identified migrants, only one is irregular. Once the camp is cleared, volunteers from the Italian Red Cross committee in Castelvetrano will dismantle the housing units and reassemble them before the start of the olive picking season.
