Caltanissetta without water for days, mayor says “Pipe cannot break every 24 hours”

“I have asked and obtained from the prefect a table for the emergency, which will be held at 1:15 p.m. today, to which Caltaqua, Siciliacque, Ati and firefighters have been summoned for what is happening in the city of Caltanissetta”. The mayor Roberto Gambino announced regarding the serious water emergency that has been affecting the city for days. Citizens and commercial activities are with dry taps but today there will be no water distribution.

“Ancipa – the mayor said – is connected to the city of Caltanissetta with a pipeline. In recent days a piece had broken and was repaired, then another piece and was repaired again. The water will be delivered from Siciliacque to Caltaqua not before 11 pm tonight. But once it arrives it will not immediately reach the citizens’ taps because Caltaqua will have to fill the municipal tank and distribute from there. So I asked for a prefectural table to deepen this problem. The pipe cannot break every 24 hours. We already have no water in the basins. If the water that arrives then disperses due to continuous breakdowns, it becomes a serious problem. I believe that Siciliacque should make more incisive interventions to permanently restore these plants. I hope that today those responsible will take responsibility”.

Apparently the first breakdown occurred on April 28 in the Franceschini district in Agira, and was repaired within a few hours. But then immediately afterwards another breakdown occurred near Troina. And to this day the city of Caltanissetta remains dry.
