Businessman found dead in car in Palermo had delivered a letter: “The lawyer knows everything”

In a letter, Angelo Onorato, the architect husband of the MEP Francesca Donato, who was found dead yesterday in his car, reportedly wrote to his family that he was going through a difficult time and that if something happened to him, they should contact the lawyer “who knows the whole situation.” The lawyer, a tax expert, was questioned by the police yesterday. The note also reportedly contained general indications of who might have wanted to harm him.

A tax lawyer was questioned yesterday evening at the offices of the mobile squad in Palermo investigating the death of Angelo Onorato, husband of MEP Francesca Donato. The businessman relied on the lawyer for the tax aspects of his company. Investigators questioned him to determine Onorato’s financial situation and any possible connections with his death due to debt or financial crisis.

“My husband Angelo did not commit suicide,” MEP Francesca Donato reiterated this morning to Ansa through some friends. Donato and her daughter Carolina found the businessman yesterday afternoon in his car, with his head slumped over the steering wheel and a plastic tie around his neck. Donato immediately stated that her husband had been murdered, and throughout the day yesterday, she continued to maintain this belief and to dismiss the suicide theory, which is one of the hypotheses being considered by the investigators from the mobile squad working on behalf of the Palermo prosecutor’s office.
