Brunori’s bitterness: we gave it all, we are sad.
The Palermo season ended with elimination in the playoff semi-final at the hands of Venezia. A defeat that certainly hurts a group that, after the success against Sampdoria in the semi-final, had started to believe in the possibility of really playing its cards for promotion to Serie A. This was not the case because the lagunari imposed themselves both at the Barbare, 1-0, and at the Penzo, 2-1, leaving no escape for Mignani’s team.
“There is a lot of sadness and disappointment, we tried until the end. We met a strong team that deserved to win on the field. We felt the support of everyone and our people, but it wasn’t enough. The field always speaks.” From the beginning, it was known that it would not be easy, especially due to the result achieved last Monday. But, despite this, the team tried: “We gave everything until the last minute to try to make an impression – underscored the number 9 rosanero. I congratulate mister Vanoli’s team who have shown to be more ready at this moment.”
Then on his premature exit from the field: “I was already a bit injured and I stopped,” explained the forward.
The regret is also great because the fans had followed the team even in Venice, as they did in all away games and – above all – at home where this season there were several attendance records. There were just over 300 supporters at the Penzo to try to help the team: “Our fans have always shown immense affection towards us, both when things didn’t go well during the year and when they were always close to us,” stated Matteo Brunori.
