Two people were injured, one seriously, in a road accident that occurred in the afternoon along the Catania Messina highway, just after the Fiumefreddo di Sicilia junction, in the direction of Messina. A car, traveling towards Messina, collided with a truck after the driver lost control. The two occupants of the car, of foreign nationality, were treated by the emergency medical service and then transported by helicopter. The woman was taken to the Cannizzaro Hospital in Catania. Arriving in serious condition, she was intubated. A stretch of the highway was closed to traffic. A traffic jam of about 5 kilometers formed on the road. The highway police were on site for investigations. A team of firefighters from Riposto also intervened to secure the vehicles involved.
