Appeal confirms convictions for three Palermo men in drug and extortion case

The Court of Appeal has confirmed the convictions of five defendants involved in the Delivery operation in Castellammare del Golfo. Two defendants had their sentences reduced by one month, and one defendant was acquitted. The convicted defendants received sentences ranging from 4 years and 8 months to 7 years and 4 months, in addition to fines. The operation, which targeted individuals involved in drug trafficking and extortion, was initiated based on investigations by the Carabinieri from March to June 2020. It was revealed that three individuals in Castellammare del Golfo had organized a delivery system for marijuana and cocaine, with exchanges taking place near their homes and during private parties. The operation resulted in the arrest of 20 individuals between the ages of 22 and 56 from different areas in Sicily.
