App-@id: pilot project in Mazara improving communication for people with disabilities
On Friday, May 24th at 11 am, the press conference will be held to present the app developed as part of the App-@id project – New technologies to support patients with neuromuscular diseases. The presentation will take place at the Gran Sasso room of the Roma Scout Center (largo dello Scoutismo, 1) in Rome. The app (along with a helpline) will provide psychological and psychiatric assistance to people with disabilities, particularly those with neuromuscular disabilities, caregivers, and healthcare professionals. 20 psychologists and psychotherapists, already selected through a call for proposals, will be operational from next June.
The project is carried out by the Mazara del Vallo section of the Italian Union for the Fight against Muscular Dystrophy, and was selected through the “Call for Ideas” launched in recent months by the Tim Foundation. The initiative aims to support not only people with muscular dystrophy and neurodegenerative diseases, but also those who care for them and the professionals who support them, helping them recognize their care, assistance, and support needs, facilitating access to specific services. App-@id is a pilot project, aimed at 400 users in the Lazio and Sicily regions, 800 caregivers and healthcare professionals, and associations in the Uildm network. The project, in addition to providing psychological assistance to users, aims to make this assistance easily and quickly accessible through the use of innovative technologies. In particular, tools dedicated to the psychological assistance needs of users will be developed by a team of professionals and experts, in co-design with patients and their families, through which they can also contact psychologists and psychotherapists for emergencies, who will provide guidance, support, and online therapy based on expressed needs.
