Unbelievable but true, LeBron “the King” James visited Palermo. The NBA superstar was spotted in the city for a brief visit: many recognized him and tried to take a selfie, but the large group of bodyguards prevented the fans from going wild.

Photos of the lucky ones who randomly met the world’s most famous American basketball player and newly crowned Olympic champion are circulating on social media: LeBron was seen in the historic center, particularly near the Chiesa della Catena between Corso Vittorio Emanuele and La Cala.

Many wondered if it was actually him: the proof came from the photograph posted on his Instagram profile from the restaurant Il Gagini on Via dei Cassari, where the Los Angeles Lakers star stopped for lunch (in the photo).

The American basketball champion had been in the city since yesterday evening: on his Instagram profile, there is a story showing the Gulf of Palermo. The next stops of his trip are unknown, but it is certain that Sicily and its capital are once again a preferred destination for big sports and movie stars.

The last sighting was in October 2023, when Hollywood star Gerard Butler was seated at a table in a restaurant in Piazza Giovanni Meli. On that occasion, the actor was in the city to shoot a film by Julian Schnabel, “La Mano di Dante”: a story that intertwines the life of a literary critic with that of the great poet and brought actors such as Oscar Isaac and Jason Momoa to Palermo.
