Altavilla Milicia Massacre: Kevin fought bravely against Sabrina and Massimo, refusing to join the killers.

Kevin Barreca, just 16 years old, would have been another sacrificial victim of Sabrina Fina and Massimo Carandente. Investigators are trying to deepen what his role was, as he may have been the only one not committing violence inside the house of horror in Altavilla Milicia. An alternative version to that of the couple who, instead, accused him, his father, and the minor daughter of being the authors of the murders of the mother Antonella Salamone and the 5-year-old Emanuel. While waiting to be called for the interrogation they have long requested to be able to support in front of the deputy prosecutor of Termini Imerese, Manfredi Lanza, lawyer Franco Critelli – who defends both – has announced that next week he will meet Carandente for the first time with criminologist Gianni Spoletti.

In the meantime, the two continue to profess their innocence and say they have nothing to do with the murders: they have revealed, in fact, that they were present only to pray, blaming the family who had housed them. According to them, Barreca senior would have locked the gate of the villa with a padlock to prevent them from leaving and thus forcing them to witness the massacre. A narrative that, however, does not seem to hold up against the prosecution’s reconstruction.

Kevin, at first, would have watched while they were attacking the mother, indeed he would have helped his father bury her in a hole. Immediately after, he had rebelled, so much so that the looks of the so-called “brothers of God” had turned against him, who had tortured him. He had fought like a lion to escape the fury: the sixteen-year-old had defended himself becoming particularly aggressive, so much so that Sabrina and Massimo had tied him up hands and feet. The woman had received a bite on the ankle from the boy, who had also thrown a painting at her husband, hitting him in the neck. For this reason, they had immobilized him: “In particular, the father had blocked him, while Sabrina and Massimo had tied him with a chain full of rust, cables, and wires,” it reads in the ordinance that reconstructs all the phases of the tragic ritual.

Details also contained in the medical report where Fina herself confirmed that she had been physically attacked, had bruises and scratches on her arms, and had been treated on her left calf, unequivocal signs of the fight with the elder of the two deceased Barreca brothers. The whitewasher, even if still in the grip of mystical delirium, decisively pointed the finger at Sabrina and Massimo, speaking of an external instigator and hinting at being manipulated to convince him to exterminate his wife and children. To his lawyer Giancarlo Barracato and criminologist Roberta Bruzzone, who will be meeting him again at the Enna prison tomorrow, April 26, he reiterated that the daughter would have been saved by chance and would not have become the fourth victim only thanks to a gust of wind that hit Altavilla.
