Agrigento illegally claims incentives for the South: assets worth over a million euros seized

The article explains that an entrepreneur in the field of information technology, originally from Sicily but residing in Milan, has been accused of illegally pocketing incentives intended for companies in the southern regions of Italy. The finance police in Agrigento, at the request of the judge in Sciacca, have seized assets worth €1.2 million from the entrepreneur. The entrepreneur’s company, based in Sicily, had been benefiting from tax incentives for investments in the southern regions, including tax credits financed with the National Recovery and Resilience Plan. Investigators focused on the significant tax credits obtained by the company from 2020 to 2023 for research and development activities conducted in Milan, using both internal staff and consultants from companies managed by the entrepreneur or his family members. The company allegedly used these credits – amounting to around €1.2 million – to unlawfully reduce its tax debt and avoid paying contributions to social security institutions. The unused credits have been suspended in agreement with the Tax Agency.
