Agricultural company’s excavator on fire in Siracusa: Intimidation suspected

A night of fire in Siracusano, where the excavator of an agricultural company was set on fire. The fire broke out in an area owned by the Gennuso company, which is located a short distance from the Rosolini-Ispica state road. When the alarm was raised, the fire brigade teams and the carabinieri of Ispica arrived on the scene, who carried out the surveys and started the investigations to determine the causes of the fire.

The main track is that of arson: there is indeed the shadow of intimidation on the fire, as a lighter and a small bottle containing flammable liquid were found a few meters away from the destroyed vehicle. The investigations are still in the early stages, but the investigators do not exclude that the motive may be related to the purchase of the land on which the excavator was located. The plot is owned by the company for a few months, since the owner bought it at auction.

The excavator destroyed by the fire had recently been used in the field to prepare for the upcoming crops. The family reported everything and investigations to find the responsible parties are ongoing. The images from the cameras in the area are being examined, as they could provide important elements to track down those who were involved.
