Castelvetrano: Woman gives birth at home with husband’s help
A baby girl was born at home in Castelvetrano, something that doesn’t happen every day. The little girl is named Ariel and is doing well: her mother Sabrina gave birth with the help of her father Giacomo. The newborn is the couple’s third child (her siblings are fourteen and twelve years old) and was born at night. Around 4 in the morning, the woman got up to go to the bathroom and started having stronger and stronger contractions. The husband, who was preparing everything to go to the hospital, called for help but there was no time: the baby was in a hurry to be born. He assisted his wife every step of the way until the baby was born. Fortunately, both the mother and Ariel were taken to the hospital without any problems. It is really rare for a woman to give birth at home, even in small Sicilian towns. Just a few days ago, a woman in Barrafranca gave birth in an ambulance along the state road 561 that leads from the town to the Umberto I hospital in Enna. The 118 vehicle was turned into a small delivery room where little Linda was born. Both she and her mother are in excellent health.
