The magic of Christmas in Palermo with A Christmas Carol: “A timeless tale”
The magic of Christmas comes to the city and opens the doors of the Al Massimo theater in Palermo: tonight and tomorrow the enchanting Christmas musical A Christmas Carol, based on the famous novel by Charles Dickens, will be on stage. Written and directed by Marina Pellicano and with music by Stefano Lodi and Marco Caselle, the show has reached its sixth tour with 85 performances (almost all sold out) and over 100,000 spectators so far. The director explains that the show will open with the character of young Tim, representing innocence and the reality of things. The protagonist, Mr. Scrooge, played by Fabrizio Rizzolo, is a greedy and miserly man who only cares about work and money. Rizzolo describes the story as very current, reflecting on the fast-paced nature of modern life and the importance of family. The show, filled with dance and songs, will also have some humorous moments to show the character’s inner kindness behind his sarcasm. While the story and characters may have some variations from the novel, the director ensures that it is all done with respect to the original text. The director and actor hope that the audience will be involved in Scrooge’s transformation and find inspiration in the story. They have focused on the character’s past, emphasizing the importance of memory in developing the present and future.
