Palermo waiter murder: Suspect’s lawyer claims witnesses saw him at home

Aly Elabed Baguera has chosen not to respond. The 32-year-old Tunisian waiter, who allegedly shot and killed his colleague Badr Boudjemai, a 42-year-old Algerian, last Saturday night, did not answer the questions of the investigating judge, Angela Lo Piparo. Meanwhile, Baguera’s lawyer, Salvino Caputo, strongly rejects the prosecutor’s theories and explains how “the accusation has presented a series of videos taken from 3-4 cameras in the area between via Emerico Amari and via Roma, which show a subject wearing a very common jacket and do not register the face at the time of the crime.” The lawyer also points out that neither the jacket nor the gun – a revolver according to the investigators – have been found, “and the searches have been negative,” and several witnesses have confirmed that he was at home at the time of the murder. The defense also plans to use technical expertise to analyze the footage. Now, the decision of the judge regarding the validation of the arrest is awaited. According to the accusation, the extracted videos allegedly show the thirty-two-year-old following Badr from the workplace to his home and shooting him on via Roma in front of the central post office building, where the body was found by two Canadian tourists in the following moments, around 1 am.
