Dozens of fines given to boaters between Zingaro and Scopello
During August, the Coast Guard of Castellammare del Golfo issued 38 administrative fines totaling nearly 9,000 euros for violation of navigation rules along the coast. 17 boaters were fined for sailing too close to the Zingaro reserve, while another 17 were penalized for not respecting the limits near Tonnara di Scopello, Cala Bianca, and Cala Capreria. Four additional fines were given for failure to comply with port regulations. The coast has been heavily frequented by boaters and beachgoers this August. In the Zingaro reserve, navigation within 100 meters of the coast and anchoring within the first 50 meters is prohibited. Tourist excursion vessels, including those authorized for fishing tourism and support vessels for divers, must navigate and anchor beyond 50 meters from the coast, always outside the bathing area, and with specific authorization from the Trapani Port Authority.
