Comuni, Palermo doubles mayor’s allowance: will earn over 13 thousand euros.

The allowances for the mayor, deputy mayor, and city councillors in Palermo are increasing. The resolution was approved yesterday by the board chaired by Roberto Lagalla. The adjustment was provided for in the regional stability law passed last year. The increases will take effect from September 1st. The mayor will receive €13,800 per month (previously €7,798), the deputy mayor €10,350 (75% of the mayor’s allowance), and the councillors €8,970 each (65% of the mayor’s allowance). The president of the city council will also see an increase in their functional allowance, which will amount to €8,970. The attendance fee for city councillors will double from €1,200 to €2,400. The functional allowance for the metropolitan mayor is equal to that of the regional president, as regulated by the regional department for local autonomy and public service. These allowances will be covered by the municipal budget. The resolution was prepared by the chief of staff, Sergio Pollicita, who was appointed by the mayor himself in recent days.
