Gloria Di Bella, a 17-year-old from Palermo, has been crowned the new Miss Aeolian Islands and will compete in the national pre-finals of Miss Italy 2023, representing the Aeolian archipelago. She was elected last night at the Castello Theater in Lipari at the end of the regional final.

“I attend the classical high school and I would like to become a doctor as well as enter the world of entertainment. I am passionate about solving the Rubik’s Cube. I also practice a lot of sports, particularly volleyball, artistic gymnastics, and swimming. Thank you Lipari, thank you Aeolian Islands,” were her first words, with the hope that she can represent the Aeolian Islands for as long as possible. This is the objective strongly desired by Brand Eolie, a company born in 2020, to promote the territory in which it operates in the world.
29 girls “paraded” from Sicily, with Palermo taking the lead in numbers.

The previous evening, Grazia Ferro from Marina di Ragusa was elected “Miss Lipari,” and along with the other five finalists Stella Bartolomeo, Alessia Blancato, Giorgia Teniglia, Chiara Gentile, and Sofia Crifò, participated in the regional final. Miss Lipari – Miss Miluna, together with the second-place winner Miss Rocchetta beauty, also won the scholarship established by the Academy of Tourism and Management Studies in Palermo. This recognition will open the doors to a “Professional Master Training” post-diploma-degree program, to be carried out at over 470 associated tourist and hotel businesses throughout the national territory.

Among the top six is also the liparese Chiara Gentile, one of the three Aeolian participants (along with Desiréé Natoli and Maria Bruna Alleruzzo) out of eight enrolled. Unfortunately, the other five did not show up.

The event, attended by a large audience, was hosted by Antonello Consiglio and Giada Rumè, with special guests Anita Lucenti and Chiara Esposito. The events are organized by regional exclusive distributor Salvo Consiglio with his all-female staff Anna Salanitro, Ekaterina Melnikova, and Tiziana Resina.

Speaking of the territory, the event was also an opportunity to reward its excellences with the “Eolian Pearls” award. They were supposed to be recognitions based on recommendations received from the web, but apart from a few exceptions, the suggestions turned out to be unreliable. Therefore, the award went to entrepreneurs who have made history in tourism, Adriano Longo and Antonio Bernardi; to Emanuele Carnevale, who is standing out in the tourism sector with his multiple activities; to the “caper lady” of Malfa, Maurizia De Lorenzo; to the Polito family of Imperatore Travel for incoming services, and to the Therasia Resort of Vulcano.

Next was the “Eolie nel mondo” award, given to the Cantori Popolari delle Eolie and artistic director Nino Alessandro. The “Buona cucina” award went to the highly decorated liparese chef, Lucio Bernardi. Finally, the artistic award was given to composer Carmelo Travia, who thanked his people with a video message, and the solidarity award was presented to Don Gaetano Sardella, on his 50th anniversary of priesthood and great service to his community.
