Cell phones and drugs seized in Ucciardone prison in Palermo, believed to have been thrown in from outside.

The penitentiary police seized drugs and smartphones thrown from the outside into the home of the marshal Di Bona, ex Ucciardone in Palermo. This was communicated by the Cnpp union. “Despite few means and agents, these results are obtained,” says Maurizio Mezzatesta, national secretary of the Fsa-Cnpp union. “Two packages containing two next-generation smartphones, charging cables, and 200 grams of drugs were identified within the perimeter by the penitentiary police personnel.” This is just the latest seizure case in Palermo prisons. “Just a few days ago, the police dog Leo stationed at the Pagliarelli prison indicated drugs on a detainee in the ninth section of the old Bourbonic prison, resulting in the seizure of approximately 10 grams of substance, likely hashish,” Mezzatesta adds. “Kudos to the penitentiary police department at Ucciardone, well employed by directors Francesco Cerami and Giovanni La Sala. We would greatly appreciate if the personnel working in the institutions could operate in the future with technologically advanced means and have an antidrug dog also available at Ucciardone.”
