Palermo: Two men arrested attempting theft in a store
The police arrested two men from Palermo, aged 40 and 20, believed to be responsible for attempted aggravated theft in concert. The officers went to a street in the Oreto district, where a user had reported to the emergency number (112) the presence of two individuals, described in detail, who arrived on an electric scooter and were trying to force entry into a commercial establishment.
Several police cars headed to the location and once there, they caught the two suspects in the act of trying to open the shutter of a shop. One was holding up the shutter while the other was about to enter through the glass door. The arrival of the police scared off the two men, but while the one holding the shutter was immediately apprehended, the other tried to flee in the nearby streets.
The officers provided a detailed description of the fugitive to other police cars in the area, narrowing down the search to a dead-end street nearby and specifically to a building with an open entrance gate. The staircase inside the building was found open, so the officers inspected every floor, catching and apprehending the suspect, who matched the descriptions received, hiding on the top floor of the staircase.
Meanwhile, the owner of the shop arrived at the scene and, along with the officers, confirmed the damage to the shutter and its lock. The two men were arrested in the act of attempted aggravated theft in concert. The arrests were validated by the judicial authority.
