Chaos at the House, majority withdraws urban planning reform text
The center-right coalition stops again. I am referring to the votes on the urban planning reform. There is no agreement within the majority and the opposition of the Democratic Party and the Five Star Movement did not give hope for immediate progress. Therefore, the majority has decided to bring the text back to the commission, where it will be merged with the law that incorporates the Salvini’s “Save Home” plan approved at a national level. It will be discussed again in the last week of October.
This is the second time in a few days that the center-right has withdrawn a bill, it had already happened with the reform of local authorities, which included the possibility of increasing the number of councilors in municipal councils and introducing the figure of the substitute councilor (the first non-elected who would temporarily replace the councilor who becomes a councilor).
According to the Five Star Movement’s Martina Ardizzone, “It is now clear that this majority is at odds because even postponing the vote on a predominantly technical norm highlights the serious difficulties of the government. They bring the norms into the chamber and postpone them in the commission. They do everything on their own. Make peace with your own mind and demonstrate that you know how to govern Sicily.”
