The Italian railway network, a company of the Fs Italiane Group, has launched a tender worth around 1.3 billion euros for the execution of a systematic maintenance program for railway infrastructure throughout the country, with 81.8 million euros allocated for interventions in Sicily. This initiative is part of a broader investment plan by Rfi to improve the reliability standards of the network. The framework agreement has a duration of three years.
The interventions will involve the renewal of tracks, sleepers, and ballasts, as well as the replacement of switches. These modernization activities will increase the reliability of the infrastructure and improve rail transport services.
Nationally, the economic value of investments for 2024 is around 9 billion euros, with an average annual investment of 3.5 billion euros allocated to maintenance interventions on the network.
