Two elderly women robbed of their jewelry, including wedding rings; two arrests in Catania

Two men living in Naples, one originally from Morocco and the other from South America, who had swindled two elderly women, one in Catania and the other in Siracusa, by convincing them to hand over a total of 7 thousand euros in cash and jewelry to deal with non-existent danger situations for their families, were arrested in the city of Catania by the highway police.

The checks were made near the San Gregorio toll booth on the A18 motorway when the car, rented by the two to return to Campania, made a U-turn upon seeing the patrol. The highway police crew reached and blocked it. During a search of the vehicle, the officers found the cash and precious items, including the wedding rings of the two victims. The stolen goods were already returned to the victims. The two were arrested for aggravated fraud and taken to prison.
