700 kilos of stolen avocados found in car, four people charged in Fiumefreddo di Sicilia

Explaining the article briefly, four people were reported by the carabinieri of the Fiumefreddo di Sicilia station for being caught with stolen avocados. They were accused of receiving stolen goods and were three men from Paternò, aged 43, 37, and 31, and a 29-year-old man from Catania. The carabinieri discovered a maxi theft of about 700 kilograms of avocados when they noticed a suspicious Fiat Punto with foreign license plates speeding away upon their approach. They found the car abandoned with 300 kilograms of avocados inside and chased down the suspects to find two more individuals with an additional 400 kilograms of avocados. After investigating further and identifying all the suspects through database checks and surveillance footage, the carabinieri were able to apprehend all four individuals involved in the theft. The stolen avocados, valued at over 8,000 euros, were seized and later donated to local shelters as no one came forward to claim ownership or report the theft.
