Kounellis’ Santa Rosalia cart procession in Palermo at Sperone
The article explains that on October 25th, a procession will take place in the streets of Lo Sperone, with 400 children from the Sperone-Pertini institute, featuring the recently restored and dedicated artwork “The Resurrected Cart of the Rebel Rosalies” by Kounellis. The procession will pass through Via Sacco e Vanzetti with various artistic stations and will end with performances, fireworks, and greetings from the mayor of Palermo, Roberto Lagalla. The event is organized with the support of the Cassa Edile di Palermo, in collaboration with the Municipality of Palermo, the Friends of Sicilian Museums association, and the L’Arte di Crescere association. The mayor expressed that the cart will symbolize the festivity in the Sperone neighborhood, highlighting the neighborhood’s history of neglect and revival. The cultural advisor, Giampiero Cannella, mentioned that the cart, previously abandoned, has now become a symbol of revitalization in a neighborhood in need of both institutions and symbols like that of Santa Rosalia. After the event, the cart will be placed under the mural “The Rebel Rosalies” at Lo Sperone.
