Sanctions of 60k euros in place at via Plebiscito trattoria in Catania
Penalties of 60,000 euros were imposed by the police on the owner of a horse meat restaurant on Via del Plebiscito in Catania. Several irregularities were found, both in terms of workplace safety and the workers’ positions, as well as regarding food traceability. The checks, carried out as part of initiatives ordered by the Catania Police Chief, were conducted by the police, labor inspectorate, veterinary service of the Asp, Spresal, forestry service, and local police. Penalties of 40,000 euros were issued for the lack of traceability of workers’ wages, which were paid in cash. Other penalties were imposed for the presence of two workers without employment documentation, irregularities in the employees’ changing room, eight kilograms of fish and food products without traceability, one kilogram of cured meats, and oil served without a top-up. Also contested were unauthorized fires, the illegal installation of a tent, and the lack of a health certificate for the adjacent storage area to the commercial premises.
