Palermo Commune raids “its” Fair with a blitz: crackdown on illegal vendors

Furnished with chairs, desk, and office supplies, complete with a (real) plant regularly watered and in perfect health. Furniture from the Municipality that the abusive guardians of the Fair, now disappeared, used to receive clients and customers in all comfort. After all, they had the keys to the locks and padlocks of the chains placed on doors and gates, which were literally torn apart on Thursday morning (but the news was only learned yesterday) with pliers and an oxyacetylene torch, in the blitz by the municipal police at the facility under Monte Pellegrino. Warehouses and pavilions with lots of stuff, which have been subject to criminal seizure: a sign that there is an investigation open by the Prosecutor’s Office. Especially since the Carabinieri had also moved in recent days.

The raid was carried out after the complaint filed with the Prosecutor’s Office (anticipated by the Giornale di Sicilia) last week by the councillor for Production Activities, Giuliano Forzinetti, present at the raid of what had become the stronghold of “nobodies” who, however, lived there for years, with an exclusive set of keys and management of spaces. Without any right to be there, since, as is now discovered, they are not municipal employees.
