Schillaci from M5S on the risk to local authorities due to the National Law

Explain to me briefly the following article

“The local authorities bill is at risk of not seeing the light or of not seeing it in a short time? So, if it is true, as it is wanted to be believed, that the expansion of women’s quotas in municipal councils is important to everyone, or almost everyone, let’s first adapt to the national legislation and bring to the floor and approve as soon as possible the bill that I have just presented in this regard.”

This is stated by the M5S deputy Roberta Schillaci who, together with colleagues from the Ars group, is fighting for the increase of female representation in municipal councils. The bill, consisting of just two articles, “proposes to adapt the legislation of the Sicilian Region to the provisions contained in paragraph 137 of article 1 of law no. 56 of April 7, 2014 (the so-called Delrio law), which provides that in the councils of municipalities with a population of more than 3,000 inhabitants, neither sex can be represented in less than 40 per cent.”
