Literary totems and podcasts for passengers at Palermo airport
The Falcone Borsellino International Airport in Palermo is launching a new cultural service for transit passengers today. The initiative, called “Literary Totems and Podcasts,” allows travelers to download free, unpublished stories and podcasts by Sicilian authors directly to their smartphone, tablet, or computer, to read and listen to during their journey or while waiting for their flight. The project aims to enrich the cultural offerings of Palermo airport, turning it into a meeting point between travel and culture. Thanks to the collaboration with Sicilian writers, passengers can access exclusive multimedia content for free by simply scanning the QR code printed on the totems located in the departure area. The totems will also contain the author’s photo and a brief biography.
“This project stems from the desire to enrich the travelers’ experience,” says Salvatore Burrafato, president of Gesap, the company managing the Palermo airport, “by offering them a unique opportunity to immerse themselves in reading or listening to exclusive podcast content. The three talented Sicilian authors have written and created unpublished stories for transit passengers, making this cultural initiative more interesting because it will be a real discovery.”
The protagonists of this first edition of “Literary Totems and Podcasts” are three Sicilian journalists/writers: Alessia Franco with the story “The Island of Hollow Trees”: a journey into the world of contemporary fairy tales; Gery Palazzotto with the podcast “Raw Material – the Forgotten Death of Libero Grassi”; Salvo Toscano with “True Colors,” modern and engaging fiction.
